The Large Hadron Collider at CERN

High Accuracy Topography

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) consists of a 27-kilometre ring and can be found 100m below ground level stretching across the Franco-Swiss boarder. GEOTOP uses the most accurate and newest topographical instruments, to conduct the geodesic metrology works, to indicate and maintain the underground geodesic network and to align superconducting magnets and the auxiliary components with a relative accuracy of 0.2mm.
